Sunday afternoon Pastor was sitting on the porch of the church building when we drove up. We got out and I pulled up a chair and had a cup of coffee with him.
In a little while parts of the church drove up too. Yeah, I know “say what!?” You’se is scratching your head wondering what does he mean by that? Well, the Bible does say that we are parts of the body which body means church.1Corinthians12:14 “For in fact the body is not one member but many.” Don’t you’se see? That is where that comes from you see.
What has that to do with NDNs you ask?
Well consider this a chief or leader sits in front of his TeePee, Mudhut, Hogan, ndn log home or even a Tent drinking coffee, water or something. Maybe even a sodie water i.e. Pepsi or Coke.
While I am partial to Rootbeer myself.
Anyway we muse about people coming early or just a smidge late to Worship services. Course when you get ndns or any ethnic or race, or just people together these things come out.
We can see parents scurrying around like rats on a burning ship. Though I have never been on a burning ship. You get the picture of them hurrying kids along as they get themselves ready too.
Parents run amuck sometimes in their haste to look just right for church services.
In 2Kings9:30 Now when Jehu had come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it, and she put paint on her eyes and adorned her head, and looked through a window.
Whoa man she was ready for some company to see her all painted up! What you ask does this have to do with parents getting ready? Well hang on to your britches there young un.
In the urgency of getting ready we at times miss a step. Such as the woman who came to Sunday morning services with different colored shoes on one blue and one black. Well, it embarrassed her so much that she ran home actually, she drove home after one song. She changed into a matching set of slippers.
I just got to thinking about lipstick. No not what color I would wear but just the word itself “Lipstick.”
This thought came to mind. What does it mean when a woman looks into the mirror or asks if her lipstick looks ok?
“What does it mean when a woman says she needs some more lipstick? Do you think it could be that her lips keep falling off. That is why she needs some kind of glue to keep her lips stuck on her face? “Hence Lipstick!”
You know ndns gave names to others whether good or bad ones. What would this ones’ name be?
Falling lips, No lips, Sliding Lips, maybe Red sticky lips? What would you come up with? Why would you?
good thing they didn’t have Gorilla glue back then might have been called Gorilla lips!
This American English sure can be cornfusing at times to a simple minded ndn like me.
